Prayer in the Body, Y.F.

One outstanding part of the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee is concerning the Body of Christ. They both believed that the Body of Christ is one of the crucial matters in the Scripture. It is essential to the Christian growth and is God's heart's desire. The Body of Christ can be seen in various epistles of Paul: Romans, 1 Corinthians, and Ephesians. For example, Romans 12:4-5 says, “For just as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function, so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” 1 Corinthians 12:12 says, “For even as the body is one and has many members, yet all the members of the body, being many, are one body, so also is the Christ.”

I am very happy to know that today I am not just an individual Christian, but also part of the universal Body of Christ. I can enjoy the supply from Christ and the other members of His Body.

I would like to mention two of my experiences of being supplied in the Body through the prayer of the local church and through one individual member of the Body. When I was in Junior High, there was an opportunity that in the church prayer meeting we could bring out names of our relatives whom we hoped could be baptized in the coming baptism meeting. I mentioned my mother, and all the brothers and sisters prayed for her in the meeting. That night I went home and asked my mother if she wanted to get baptized, that coming Saturday, in the meeting hall. She said yes and was happily baptized that Saturday.

Recently, I had a situation which I felt I could no longer bear. I called a sister and asked her to pray with me about the situation. I was relieved because I no longer had to bear the burden by myself. At least one member in the Body is petitioning for me and supplying me with the Spirit to take care of the situation. I thank the Lord for the prayer and companionship I have found in the local church.
